Love is the answer

First nurture it from within

Then carry it forth

Awhile back, I wrote a piece that centered around self-love. The premise of the message was that we can only love others as much as we love ourselves. Taking the time to practice acts of self-love allow us to feel compassion, but also allow us to feel refreshed. We can spend so much time taking care of the needs of others, that we lose touch with ourselves. It’s then, at that point, that we have a moment of exhaustion, or even a breakdown to a varying degree.

We all know when we’re at a stopping point. A stopping point that will allow us some time to rest, to restore and to reenergize. As a society, we can have a tendency to wait for these moments. Perhaps it’s an annual vacation, a visit to a spa or something even more lavish. What we need to remember is that gifting ourselves the time take care of ourselves, is one of the best presents we can ever receive. We don’t need to feel guilty about making this time. Instead, we should feel selfish about this time and treat it like any other “serious” commitment.

For when we fill up our hearts and our souls, we are able to pour out the most beautiful of moments for those who surround us. And we are able to do it from a place of worthiness and selflessness.
